The boat pulls away from Cardigan's harbour and within twenty minutes you're out on Cardigan Bay proper, scanning the water for fins. A Bay To Remember runs wildlife trips that genuinely deliver - we saw three separate pods of bottlenose dolphins on our visit, plus seals hauled out on the rocks near Gwbert. The crews know these waters inside out and won't just point vaguely at the horizon; they'll tell you which individuals they're tracking and how they recognise them.

It's the sort of outing that works for families with older kids (under-fives will struggle with the motion and the waiting), but serious wildlife watchers get real value here too. You're on the water for roughly three hours, so bring a jacket even in summer - the Bay can be bracing. The dolphins aren't guaranteed, but the odds are decent enough that it's worth the gamble.
