The gallery sits just outside Glastonbury, a town that already draws plenty of art-minded visitors. ACEarts is a working creative space as much as it is a gallery - you'll find artists actually making things here, which changes the whole experience. It's the kind of place where you can genuinely chat to people about what they're doing rather than walking past velvet ropes.

The space itself shows contemporary work across various media. What you get depends on when you visit - there's a rolling programme of exhibitions and artist residencies. Some visits you'll find painting and sculpture; other times installation work or experimental pieces take over. It's small enough that you won't need more than an hour or so, though if you're genuinely interested in talking to the artists, you could easily stretch that.

This works brilliantly if you're staying at one of the nearby campsites - Thorney Lakes and Bobsfield are both within twenty minutes' drive - and fancying something a bit different from the usual tourist trail. It's not a rainy day lifesaver for families with restless kids, but if you've got older teenagers or adults who actually care about what's on the walls, it's worth the short drive from your accommodation.

Best to check ahead on opening hours and admission fees before you go. Glastonbury itself is cracking for wandering, so you could easily combine a gallery visit with lunch in town and whatever else draws you to the area.
