Allt Llwyn-Cadfor

The Teifi Valley isn't short of woodland, but Allt Llwyn-Cadfor punches above its weight. This forest sits just outside Llandysul, offering proper walking territory through mixed woodland with the river corridor close by - you get that lovely sense of being tucked into the landscape without feeling hemmed in.

It's a walker's spot, really. The trails wind through beech and oak, and the valley itself tells you something about how water shapes land. There's no faffing about with visitor centres or paid entry - you just go. Allow an hour or two depending on how energetically you're moving. Come autumn and the leaf colour is genuinely worth the trip; spring's decent too if you can avoid the mud.

Families with older kids will get on well here. Younger ones might find it a bit samey after a while - it's forest, not fairground. The real bonus is proximity to the nearby parks. Thistledown Glamping is barely three miles away, and Woodland Hideaway sits at three-point-nine. If you're based at any of the glamping spots around here - The Hiveaway or Let's Glamp Retro further out - this becomes an easy morning or afternoon venture without committing to a full day out. The ground can be boggy after rain, so decent boots matter.

Worth the detour if you're in the area with a decent map and time on your hands. Don't expect dramatic views or tourist infrastructure. Do expect to walk off some tension and remember why you came to Wales.
