The bluebell walk here is properly stunning in spring - those violet-blue carpets stretching through the woodland are exactly what you hope for when you pack a picnic and head out from Hailsham on an April morning. It's not a long trek, which means families with younger kids won't hit a wall of complaints halfway round, and the farm trail loops tie everything together nicely without feeling like a slog.

You're walking through actual working farmland mixed with managed woodland, so it feels genuine rather than manicured. The bluebells themselves are the main event - they peak in mid to late April, though if you get the timing wrong you'll just see green undergrowth and wonder what all the fuss was about. Go on a weekday if possible; weekends bring the Instagram crowd, and it gets rammed.

Walkers and nature photographers will get the most from it, though there's enough space that you're not tripping over other people constantly. It's free to access and works brilliantly as a morning out before heading back to Warren Wood or Golden Cross if you're camping nearby.
