Autodromo

Autodromo sits just outside Narberth in Pembrokeshire - a modest museum devoted to racing cars and motoring history. It's the sort of place where petrol heads will happily spend a couple of hours poking around vintage and classic vehicles, reading up on their specs, and getting that familiar itch to own something impossibly impractical.

The collection ranges from proper old racers to road cars with stories worth telling. You'll find everything from 1950s competition machines to more recent classics - all parked up indoors where the Welsh rain can't get at them. It's low-key and unpretentious, which is rather refreshing. No booming soundtracks or interactive nonsense. Just cars, details, and the chance to stand closer to them than you'd manage at a typical show.

Kids might get bored if they're not already into cars, truth be told. A thirteen-year-old with zero interest in engines will find twenty minutes plenty. But a family where mum or dad grew up wanting to build kit cars? They'll linger. There's something quite satisfying about examining the differences between a 1960s Jaguar and a 1970s one when they're standing right there in front of you.

Narberth itself is a proper market town with decent pubs and cafes, so you can make a morning or afternoon of it. The location works well if you're staying at one of the holiday parks scattered roundabout - Noble Court is barely a mile away. It's not a major draw on its own, but paired with the coastal walks and other attractions Pembrokeshire offers, it fills a rainy-day gap quite nicely.
