Ballycastle 18 Hole Mini Golf

The 18-hole course sits right in Ballycastle, a proper seaside town on the north coast that's famous for its rugged cliffs and Rathlin Island views. It's the kind of place where you can knock a ball round a miniature golf course in an afternoon without pretending it's serious sport - just good fun with decent scenery nearby.

What you're getting is straightforward: 18 holes of varying difficulty, some with water hazards, the usual windmill and loop-the-loop nonsense. It takes about 90 minutes if you're not mucking about, maybe two hours if there's a queue. Kids tend to enjoy it more than adults, though it's the sort of activity that works as a break between bigger days out rather than a destination in itself.

If you're staying at Watertop Farm or North Coast 9 Glamping - both excellent spots within striking distance - this fits neatly into a rainy afternoon or a quieter day between coastal walks. Ballycastle itself is worth a wander regardless: the harbour's got character, the fish and chips are solid, and you're minutes from the Causeway Coast's best hiking. The town doesn't have the tourist crush of somewhere like Bushmills, which is refreshing.

Free or paid, opening times - you'll need to ring ahead or check locally when you arrive. It's not the sort of thing worth planning a whole trip around, but if you're in the area for the walking and the views, it's a handy way to spend a couple of quid.
