Bank Hill

Bank Hill isn't a dramatic summit - it's more of a proper walk through North Yorkshire countryside just outside Wetherby. You're looking at a modest peak that rewards you with decent views across the surrounding landscape, though it won't take your breath away if you've done any real climbing. The walk itself is the main draw here, especially if you're based at one of the nearby caravan parks like Maustin Park or Haighfield, which are practically on the doorstep.

It's a solid option for families wanting a gentle afternoon outing, or walkers using it as part of a longer route through the area. The terrain isn't technical - you won't need specialist kit - but bring proper boots because the ground gets muddy after rain. Allow a couple of hours for a leisurely ascent and descent, longer if you're pottering about taking photos.

The best time to visit is late spring through early autumn when the weather behaves and the paths dry out. Winter can be grim, and frankly the views aren't good enough to justify slogging up a waterlogged hillside in February.

If you're staying at Rudding Holiday Park or Harrogate Caravan Park further afield, Bank Hill works as a half-day excursion combined with exploring Wetherby itself. It's not a destination in its own right, but as part of a park-based holiday in North Yorkshire, it fills a morning nicely. Don't go out of your way for it, but if you're already in the area, the walk's worth doing.
