Bedworth Heritage Centre

The old silk and ribbon mills that built Bedworth's fortune are long gone, but this small heritage centre keeps the town's industrial story alive. Run by the Bedworth Society, it occupies a modest space and pulls together photographs, documents, and objects that chart the place from farming settlement to Victorian manufacturing hub. You'll find yourself looking at looms, learning why the canal mattered, and spotting familiar local names on old records.

It's genuinely worth an hour if you're curious about how ordinary people lived and worked in this corner of the West Midlands. The volunteers know their stuff and actually engage rather than just standing there. Kids old enough to read will find it interesting enough; younger ones might fidget after twenty minutes.

Free entry is the clincher. Open Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings only (10:30-13:00), so you need to plan around those slots. If you're staying at 5 Ways Lakes or Hollyfast nearby, it makes an easy couple-of-miles detour on a wet afternoon. Hinckley is just down the road if you need somewhere bigger for lunch or coffee.

Don't expect anything fancy or immersive. This is local history done properly but simply - the kind of place that makes you understand why people cared about their town.
