About Blowingstone Hill
This is one for the quirky-landmark brigade, really. Kids quite enjoy the novelty of blowing through the holes, though whether they'll hear anything depends on lung capacity and luck. The stone itself is modest - easy to walk past if you don't know what you're looking for - but there's a decent history to it, mentioned in folklore for centuries. The hill's worthwhile for walkers doing the longer Ridgeway circuit, less so if you're making it a dedicated trip from Wantage town itself.
No facilities up here, so go at a time that suits you. The walk takes twenty minutes or so depending on your fitness. Best visited on a clear day when you can actually see something from the top rather than just walking up through mist.
If you're staying at one of the glamping spots nearby - Evelyns Garden is closest at under a mile - it makes a decent morning outing before exploring the White Horse itself or heading into Wantage proper for lunch. Don't expect it to fill a whole day, but as part of a Berkshire walking trip it works fine.
