The library sits right in Brecon town centre, and it's a proper lifesaver if you're camping nearby and the weather turns. It's a solid community space - not fancy, but functional - with a decent local history section that actually tells you something about the Brecon Beacons area rather than just tourist fluff.

You'll find the usual library setup: books, computers, a reading room that's quieter than it has any right to be on a Tuesday afternoon. The staff know their stuff about local routes and can point you toward hidden walks that don't appear in the standard guidebooks. There's free WiFi if you need to sort plans or download maps.

It's genuinely useful rather than a destination in itself. History buffs might spend an hour digging through the Welsh collections, but families with restless kids probably won't linger. Admission is free, and it's open reasonable hours - though note it closes at 5pm on Fridays and Saturdays, which catches people out.

If you're staying at Cefn Cantref Campsite just over the hill, or any of the other sites within a mile or two, this is exactly the sort of place to know about.
