Brim Hill

The walk up Brim Hill from Paignton is short and sharp, rewarding you with decent views across Torbay once you've huffed your way to the top. It's not exactly a mountain - more a proper Devon hillside with some teeth to it - but on a clear day you can see across the bay towards Torquay and pick out the coastline stretching east. The climb takes maybe thirty minutes from the nearest car park, and it's the kind of walk that feels like you've actually done something without eating your entire day.

Families with older kids will get on with it fine. Younger ones might struggle with the slope, though determined toddlers have managed it. The path can be boggy in wet weather, so proper footwear matters. Allow an hour if you're taking photographs or just want to sit and look about for a bit.

What makes it worthwhile is how close it sits to the holiday parks clustered around Paignton - Beverley Holidays, Waterside, and Hoburne Devon Bay are all within walking distance or a short drive. It's the sort of thing you'd slot in on a lazy morning before heading to the beach, or when everyone needs a break from the amusement arcades. Not a day trip in itself, but a cracking spot to add some actual exercise to a park holiday without travelling far. The views aren't earth-shattering, but they're genuine, and you'll have earned them.
