Broom Plantation

Broom Plantation is a proper woodland walk tucked inland from Withernsea, the sort of place that feels a world away from the caravan parks and seaside bustle. The forest itself isn't vast - you're looking at a couple of hours maximum to explore the main paths - but it's genuinely peaceful, which counts for a lot on the Yorkshire coast.

The trees are dense enough that it's cool even on warm days, and there's something quite meditative about walking through. You won't find dramatic viewpoints or visitor facilities here; this is basic woodland with marked trails. That's either brilliant or not, depending on what you want. If you're after a quick leg-stretch between the beach and the pub, perfect. If you're expecting dramatic scenery or a destination experience, you'll be disappointed.

Families with young kids might get an hour out of it, maybe ninety minutes if they're keen foragers or nature watchers. Dog walkers will find it a godsend - off-lead friendly and quiet most weekdays. History types won't find much to grab onto, but if you just want green space and fresh air away from the touristy bits of Withernsea, it does the job.

Stays at Parkdean Resorts Withernsea Sands or Little Otchan Glamping give you easy access without eating up your day. Go early or midweek to avoid the handful of other visitors. It's not remarkable, but it's real woodland, and sometimes that's enough.
