Callander K9

Callander K9 is a working dog training facility just outside Callander in Stirling, where you can watch - and sometimes interact with - working dogs being trained for everything from obedience to specialist roles. It's a proper working operation, not a tourist attraction dressed up with gift shops, so expectations matter here.

The appeal is straightforward: if you're dog-mad or curious about what goes into training working dogs, it's genuinely interesting. You'll see handlers putting dogs through their paces, understand what makes a good working dog versus a pet, and if you're lucky, get hands-on experience. It's not a petting zoo or a leisure park - this is the real thing. That makes it brilliant for older kids who take dogs seriously and for adults who want something beyond the standard holiday park activities.

Callander itself is a proper Perthshire town with the Trossachs on the doorstep, so the K9 centre works well as a half-day activity when the weather turns or you fancy something different. Callander Woods Holiday Park and Keltie Bridge Caravan Park are both within walking distance, which is convenient if you're based at either.

Bit of a heads-up: ring ahead before visiting. Hours and access aren't always predictable at working facilities, and you'll want to confirm whether they're doing public sessions that day. It's not the kind of place where you just rock up at random.
