Caroline's Plantation

Dense woodland stretches across several acres just outside Sheringham, offering proper forest walking without the crowds you'll find at better-known spots along this stretch of the Norfolk coast. Caroline's Plantation feels genuinely wild in places, with well-established paths weaving between mature trees and the occasional clearing where you can catch your breath.

Families with older children will get the most from this place - it's not pushchair-friendly, and toddlers might struggle with some of the uneven ground. Dog walkers love it here, and you'll often have stretches of path entirely to yourself. The forest canopy provides welcome shade on hot summer days, making it a decent alternative when the beaches get too busy.

Allow a good hour for a proper circuit, though you could easily spend longer if you're keen on wildlife spotting or just fancy a peaceful wander. It's the sort of place that changes dramatically with the seasons - lovely autumn colours, but can get quite muddy in winter.

For those staying at nearby Kelling Heath Holiday Park or Woodlands Caravan Park, it's an easy walk or very short drive. Works well as part of a day exploring inland Norfolk before heading back to the coast. Not spectacular, but a solid choice for stretching your legs away from the seaside crowds.
