Cefn Bryn

Standing 609 feet above the Gower Peninsula, this limestone ridge delivers some of the finest views in South Wales. From the summit, the whole sweep of Gower unfolds below - Rhossili Bay stretching to the west, the Loughor Estuary winding inland, and on clear days, the Brecon Beacons rising to the north.

The walk up takes about 20 minutes from the nearest parking spot, following well-worn paths through gorse and heather. It's steep in places but manageable for most families with older children. Dog walkers love it here, though keep leads handy during lambing season.

What makes this spot special is the sense of space. While coastal paths get packed in summer, Cefn Bryn often feels properly remote. The ridge runs for miles, so even if the main viewpoint draws a crowd, you can always find your own patch of solitude further along.

Packed lunches work well up here - there's decent shelter from the wind behind the ancient burial chamber near the summit. Allow a couple of hours if you want to explore the full ridge properly, though the main views reward you within 30 minutes of setting off.
