The Cotswold Water Park sprawls across this corner of Gloucestershire like someone's forgotten landscape painting, and Chedworth Nature Reserve sits right in the thick of it. You're looking at a proper working nature reserve - not a manicured visitor attraction with tea rooms and gift shops, but the real deal. Wetlands, woodland, and open water that locals actually care about protecting.

Walking the paths here, you'll spot waterfowl, dragonflies in summer, and if you're lucky, some of the bird species that make this stretch of the Cotswolds their home. It's the sort of place where you need binoculars and patience rather than energy. Birdwatchers and wildlife photographers get the most from it; families with young kids might find an hour enough before they're ready for something with more obvious rewards.

The reserve sits between Hazleton and the broader Cotswold Water Park, making it a logical stop if you're exploring the area from either Bourton-on-the-Water Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite (about five miles away) or Mayfield Park. It works best as a half-morning activity rather than a full day - give yourself ninety minutes to two hours and you'll have covered the main routes without feeling rushed.
