The library at Chichester College is worth a quick visit if you're spending time in the city centre, though it's hardly a day-out destination in itself. It's a functional, modern space with a decent collection - the sort of place you'd pop into if you needed to escape the rain or wanted to spend an hour with a book while waiting for lunch reservations nearby.

Students obviously make up the bulk of the users during term time, but it's open to the public and you won't get strange looks if you walk in off the street. The Wi-Fi works, the seats are comfortable enough, and there's usually a quiet corner if you need one. It's particularly useful if you're researching local history - the staff know the area well and can point you towards relevant materials.

Truthfully, if you're basing yourself at Chichester Lakeside Holiday Park or one of the other caravan sites nearby, you'd only come here on a day when the weather's turned grim. It's not a standalone attraction. That said, it slots neatly into a broader Chichester visit - combine it with the Cathedral, a wander round the market, and perhaps the Novium Museum, and you've got a decent half-day. Allow 45 minutes maximum unless you're genuinely settling in with research. Access is free, though you might need to register on your first visit. Best avoided during school holidays when the place fills with exam-cramming sixth-formers.
