Coalpit Hill

The walk up Coalpit Hill rewards you with one of the best views across Wensleydale you'll find without breaking a sweat. It's a proper accessible summit for North Yorkshire - nothing too demanding, and the moorland opens up brilliantly once you clear the lower slopes.

From the top you're looking straight down the valley towards Leyburn, with the Pennines rolling away in the distance. On a clear day the visibility is genuinely impressive. The walk itself is free, obviously, and you can start from the town itself without any hassle.
