Walking into Coldham Grove near Eye feels like stepping back into proper old Suffolk - the kind of place where you half-expect to bump into a gamekeeper on horseback. Families with kids who don't need constant entertainment will get on fine here, though it's not a destination with playgrounds or cafes - bring water and snacks. Walkers absolutely should make the effort, and it's genuinely good for anyone after some head-clearing forest time away from the A140.

Free to access and open year-round, though winter mud can be thick on the tracks. Spring and autumn are probably your best bets for reliable conditions.
