Comrie sits in a fold of Perthshire landscape where two rivers meet, and it's the geology that really matters here. Walk around and you'll spot the old seismograph station, a proper piece of scientific history that drew geologists from across Britain.

It's not a polished museum experience; there's no visitor centre, no gift shop with shortbread. The village itself is pleasant enough - decent cafes, a bookshop worth browsing - and it sits perfectly as a base for exploring the Trossachs and Loch Earn region. If you're staying at Comrie Croft or one of the nearby holiday parks, you've got proper walking country on your doorstep. Allow a couple of hours to wander the village and riverbanks. Bring a decent guidebook - the landscape makes far more sense when you know what you're looking at. It's not dramatic, but it rewards curiosity.
