Coronation Gardens

The gardens sit right on Clitheroe's doorstep, a proper green space that locals have clearly taken care of over the years. It's the sort of place where you can wander without any agenda - paths wind through planted beds, trees offer shade when you need it, and there's enough room to actually breathe without bumping into crowds.

What you get depends on the season. Spring brings the flowers - tulips, daffodils, the usual suspects done well. Summer's green and peaceful. Autumn's worth a visit just for the colour. Winter's quieter but still pleasant if you don't mind a bit of chill.

The real strength here is simplicity. There's no entrance fee faffing about, no gift shop trying to sell you overpriced tat. Families with young kids will find enough space for them to run around, though it's not a destination playground - more of a halfway break if you're exploring Clitheroe proper. Dog walkers absolutely love it. Photographers come for the light through the trees.

If you're based at Cross Lane Caravan Park just down the road, you can be here in under two minutes. Same goes for Clitheroe Camping and Caravanning Club Site - close enough for a morning wander before heading elsewhere. Allow an hour if you're taking your time, thirty minutes if you're just stretching your legs.

It works best as part of a Clitheroe visit rather than a destination on its own. Pair it with a walk up to the castle or a poke around the town centre, and you've got a proper half-day sorted.
