Coronation Tree

An ancient oak stands in the Cheshire countryside near Sandbach, claimed to be where royalty were once crowned or proclaimed. Whether that's strictly accurate is anyone's guess, but the tree itself is genuinely impressive - gnarled, thick-trunked, and clearly old enough to have stories worth telling.

You won't need more than twenty minutes here, if that. It's the sort of spot where you pull over, have a look, take a photo, and move on. There's no visitor centre or café, no facilities to speak of - just the tree standing in its field.

The real value here is as a stop during a wider walk round the area rather than a destination in itself. It fits neatly into a day exploring North West Cheshire, especially if you're based at one of the local parks.
