The grounds at Craig Fad, just outside Maybole, are worth a proper look if you're staying in the area. It's a working garden space that feels genuinely cared for - the kind of place where you notice someone's been thinking about what grows where, rather than just throwing in whatever looks nice. You can wander the grounds at your own pace, which is the appeal really. There's no rushing through on a set path; you actually get to see how things are laid out and what's thriving in this corner of South Ayrshire.

History types will find it interesting enough - there's real structure to how it's been developed over time - but this isn't a grand estate garden with manicured everything. It's more intimate than that. Families with younger kids might find it a bit quiet after twenty minutes or so, though it depends on the child.
