The walk up Creag Mhor rewards you with genuinely impressive views across Glen Urquhart and out towards Loch Ness - the kind of outlook that justifies the climb without being brutally demanding. From Drumnadrochit, you're looking at a fair hike, but nothing that requires technical skills or mountain experience. Most walkers allow two to three hours for the round trip, depending on fitness and how long you linger at the top.

It's the sort of place that works brilliantly for people who want a proper hill walk without the full commitment of the bigger Cairngorms peaks. You get actual elevation gain, genuine effort, and a real sense of accomplishment when you reach the cairn. The views are worth the sweat. That said, don't expect solitude on a good weekend - word's got out about this one.

If you're based at Loch Ness Glamping just down the road, Creag Mhor makes an obvious half-day mission. The nearby Highland Premier Glamping Pods and Loch Ness Shores site both sit nicely for accessing it as part of a wider Highland exploration. Go early if you can. The light's better in the morning, and you'll beat the afternoon crowds that tend to head up from Drumnadrochit. Proper waterproof jacket essential - Scottish weather changes fast, and the exposed ridge can get properly windy.
