Damson Lane Park

A sprawling nature reserve on Coventry's doorstep, Damson Lane Park is the sort of place you stumble into half-expecting nothing much and leave having spotted three different species of warbler. The reserve wraps around a series of ponds and wetland areas thick with reeds, where dragonflies hang about on summer afternoons like they own the place. Well-maintained paths criss-cross through woodland sections, and there's proper birdwatching potential here - bring binoculars and a notebook if you're that way inclined.

Walkers will find it genuinely rewarding. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, so families with younger legs can manage a circuit without complaint.
