A solid Victorian red-brick chapel sitting quietly in Dartmouth, this Baptist Church has the sort of no-fuss dignity you find in a lot of Devon's nonconformist places of worship. It's not going to blow your mind architecturally, but if you're interested in how ordinary communities actually worshipped rather than visiting another grand Anglican cathedral, it's worth a look.

The real appeal here is the sense of place. Dartmouth itself - perched above the river, full of narrow streets and maritime history - makes for a proper wander, and the church slots into that nicely. You're looking at maybe ten or fifteen minutes inside, unless you're the type who likes to sit quietly in pews and think about Victorian congregations. Most people do a quick peek while exploring the town proper.

Visiting with kids? They'll manage five minutes before wanting to move on. It's the sort of stop you make between the river walk and a pasty, not a destination in itself. The nearby holiday parks at Ramslade, South Bay, and Whitehill Country Park are all within easy reach if you're basing yourself in the Paignton area, though you're better off staying closer to Dartmouth town itself if possible - the views and the location are what matter here.
