DropWorks Rum Distillery

DropWorks Rum Distillery sits just outside Worksop, a proper working distillery where you can actually see rum being made rather than just read about it on a label. The whole operation is fairly compact - it's not some sprawling industrial complex - but that's rather the point. You get to watch the process from grain to bottle, which beats most visitor attractions where they corral you round a museum space and call it education.

The distillery itself is worth an hour, maybe ninety minutes if you're genuinely interested in how spirit production works. They do tours and tastings, though I'd check ahead for exact opening times and whether you need to book - these smaller operations can be a bit flexible about their schedules. It's the kind of place that appeals to adults far more than children, unless your kids are unusually patient about watching fermentation tanks.

Where it fits nicely into a wider trip is proximity to Clumber Park, just four miles south. You could easily pair a morning at the distillery with an afternoon exploring the National Trust estate - the parkland there is genuinely excellent for a long walk, and they've got proper visitor facilities. Sherwood Forest Holiday Park sits six miles away if you're basing yourself in the area for a few days. The Worksop location itself is workmanlike rather than pretty, but it's convenient for the better attractions roundabout.
