About Duver Beach
What you're looking at is a textbook example of Cretaceous rocks exposed by coastal erosion. Geologists get genuinely excited about it. Walkers will find the beach itself pebbly and relatively quiet compared to the busier Wight spots, which means you can actually hear yourself think. The cliffs make for decent photography if the light's right, particularly in the golden hour before sunset.
There's not much infrastructure here - this isn't a seaside resort kind of place. You park up near Ryde and walk the coastal path, which takes anywhere from half an hour to a couple of hours depending on how far you fancy roaming. Free access, obviously. The beach works best for adults and teenagers who like a bit of geological interest or simply want a quieter stretch of shale and pebbles. Young kids won't find much to do unless they're the fossil-hunting type.
White Cliff Bay Glamping, just up the road, makes a sensible base if you're planning a longer stay. Time your visit for low tide if you want to explore the rock pools and foreshore properly. Winter can be harsh here - the exposed location means wind, so go in shoulder seasons for the best light without the battering.
