East Brackley Viewpoint

The drive up to East Brackley is unremarkable until you crest the final bend and suddenly the whole of Kinross opens out below you. It's one of those views that makes you understand why people choose to stay in this corner of Perthshire at all.

This is a straightforward hilltop viewpoint - no visitor centre, no café, just a pull-in and a proper vantage point. On a clear day you're looking across farmland and lochs towards the Ochil Hills. The perspective shifts depending on the light and season; spring gives you green fields stretching towards the horizon, while autumn turns everything gold and rust.

Historians might spend ten minutes picking out landmarks. Walkers use it as a waypoint on longer routes. Families with young kids will find it a quick stop rather than a destination in itself - the novelty wears off once they've spotted a few sheep. If you're staying at Gallowhill Caravan & Camping Park or Wild Goose Glamping nearby, it's absolutely worth the short drive for sunset or early morning when the mist sits low across the valleys.

There's no charge, no time limit. Go when the weather's decent - which in Perthshire means being flexible. Midweek mornings tend to be quieter than weekends. Allow 20 minutes unless you're stopping for photographs, in which case factor in another half hour. It's the sort of place that rewards patience and decent light rather than crowds and convenience.
