Emneth Methodist Church

A small Methodist chapel in rural Norfolk that rewards the curious far more than its plain exterior suggests. Emneth's Methodist Church is the sort of place you'd walk straight past unless someone had told you to look, which makes it rather special when you do step inside.

The building itself dates from the 19th century and carries all the no-nonsense charm of Nonconformist architecture - all straight lines and practical spirituality, no frills. What makes it worth the detour from Wisbech, though, is the interior. The village itself is quiet; there's nothing else that demands your time, so only detour if churches genuinely interest you. Admission details aren't widely advertised, so check locally in Wisbech first. It's the sort of place that rewards showing up, but equally the sort of place that won't make you regret skipping it if the weather turns.
