Evesham Country Park

The River Avon winds through this stretch of Warwickshire countryside like it's got all the time in the world, and Evesham Country Park gives you a front-row seat to watch it do just that. It's a proper nature reserve on the outskirts of Evesham town, the sort of place where you actually spot things - kingfishers if you're lucky, herons definitely, and the usual cast of riverside birds going about their business.

Walkers will find it worth a visit. The paths are straightforward enough for families with younger kids, though you'll want wellies after rain as the ground gets boggy near the water. Allow an hour or so for a gentle ramble, longer if you're serious about birdwatching or just fancying a sit-down by the bank with a flask of tea.

The park works well as a half-morning stop if you're based at one of the nearby caravan sites - Bredon-Vale is less than a mile away, which makes it dead convenient. The Springs and Ranch Caravan Park are only a few miles further if you want something a touch more established. If glamping appeals, Plum Tree has proper character with their bell tents and railway wagon setup, and it's barely three miles down the road.

It won't blow your mind if you're after dramatic scenery, but it's the kind of local spot that reminds you why people bother with countryside breaks in the first place. Quiet, free to wander, and genuinely decent for spotting wildlife without fighting crowds.
