Fedw Fawr

Fedw Fawr sits just outside Llandovery, a proper hill walk rather than a scramble, with views that stretch across the Carmarthenshire valleys on a clear day. It's not especially high - nothing that'll leave you breathless - but the walk up is straightforward enough, following established paths through moorland and rough grass. Expect to spend a good two hours there and back, depending on your pace and how long you linger at the top.

Walkers will find it rewarding without being punishing. The approach from Llandovery is manageable for anyone with basic fitness, and families with older children can tackle it without drama. You won't find any facilities at the summit - no cafe, no visitor centre, just the landscape and whatever weather decides to show up. Bring proper kit and a map; it's open country and the mist can roll in fast.

Camping nearby, you've got Erwlon Caravan & Camping Park and Riverside Pods both within striking distance, plus Aber Glamping sits in the Brecon Beacons proper if you want something with a bit more comfort. The area suits walkers planning a few days exploring the higher ground around the Beacons. Fedw Fawr works as a half-day outing if you're based at any of those parks - nothing too ambitious, but a proper hill to tick off. Don't go expecting Pen y Ghent drama; this is quieter, less tramped terrain.
