Fisherman's Walk

The Thames Path section known as Fisherman's Walk cuts through London's riverside with a proper sense of purpose. This isn't a theme park or a heritage site with guided tours - it's an actual stretch of the river where you can walk at your own pace, watch the water, maybe spot some boats if you're lucky.

You'll get the best from it if you're the type who enjoys a straightforward riverside ramble without too much fuss. The walk connects different parts of London's waterfront, so it works well as a section of a longer Thames Path exploration rather than a standalone destination. Bring a packed lunch and settle on a bench somewhere; that's the whole appeal really.

Historically, this part of the Thames had working fishermen and river traffic - hence the name - but you're coming for the present-day experience now: the rhythm of the water, occasional wildlife, and that particular London light bouncing off the river. The walk is completely free and accessible whenever you fancy it.
