Frogmore is the sort of place where you'll spot birds you didn't know lived round here - marsh harriers, lapwings, the occasional kingfisher if you're patient - though honestly, a lot of the magic is just the quiet. Walkers get the most from this one. The reserve isn't enormous - you can cover the main circuits in an hour or so without rushing - but it rewards you for lingering. Bring binoculars if you're into birds; skip it if you need drama or serious height gain. The ground stays boggy even weeks after rain, so waterproof boots aren't optional.

Timing matters here. Spring and early summer are when the wildflowers are actually worth writing home about, and that's when the birds are most active. Winter can feel a bit thin, to be honest.
