Great Widgham Wood

You'll find yourself on proper woodland paths here, the sort that crunch underfoot and lead nowhere particular, which is rather the point. Great Widgham Wood sits east of Newmarket and feels like the kind of place locals know about but tourists miss entirely.

It's a genuine working woodland rather than a manicured nature reserve. Oaks, birches, and conifers create decent shade, and there's enough space to walk for an hour without retracing your steps.
