Grummel Park

The walk through Grummel Park takes you along quiet woodland paths where the River Nith loops below, and you've genuinely got a chance of spotting roe deer if you're patient. If you're based at Halleaths Caravan Park - barely a mile away - you could do worse than making this your morning walk before heading into Dumfries for lunch. The reserve works well as part of a bigger Lowlands trip, especially if you're combining it with other riverside walks in the area.
