The Highland cattle at Maol Fold are exactly what the name promises - proper shaggy beasts with horns the size of fence posts, and they're far more entertaining than you'd expect. You're basically turning up to a field on the Isle of Arran to stand around looking at cows, which sounds daft until you actually do it.

These aren't your standard dairy herd. Highland cattle are built for the Scottish weather - all long hair and attitude - and watching them lumber about is genuinely hypnotic. They're curious too, so if you've got kids they'll get a kick out of the animals ambling over to investigate.
