Hall Field Plantation

Walk into Hall Field Plantation and you're straight into proper woodland - tall conifers mixed with broadleaf trees, the kind of place where the light comes through in scattered patches and everything feels a bit quieter than the world outside. It's a forest rather than a manicured park, which means there are trails to follow but nothing too formal about them. You'll find decent walking opportunities here, nothing strenuous, just pleasant ambling through the trees with the occasional opening where you get a bit of sky back.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's the sort of place you pop into for an hour or so between other things rather than making it your entire day, though if you're the type who likes to slow down among the trees with a flask, you could happily spend longer. There's something genuinely restorative about woodland this close to Atherstone - it doesn't feel remote, but it feels removed.

If you're staying at Nightingales Rustic Camping nearby, this is dead handy - you could walk here from the site and spend a morning in the forest without needing to load anyone into a car. Families with kids who'll cope with uneven ground will manage fine, though there's not much here to entertain anyone wanting attractions or play equipment. It's pure woodland, which is either exactly what you want or not your thing at all. No facilities that I'm aware of, so come sorted with water and a packed lunch if you're planning a proper session.
