Hampton Coppice

Walking into Hampton Coppice feels like stepping back in time. This ancient woodland sits just outside Coventry, and it's one of those places that actually rewards you for leaving the city behind. The forest is dense, properly atmospheric, with established trees that have clearly been here for centuries.

You'll find yourself on well-trodden paths that wind through mixed woodland - oak, ash, and birch mostly. Kids will enjoy it if they're into scrambling about between roots and looking for wildlife, but it's not the sort of place with benches and facilities. Bring a packed lunch and stay as long as you like - it's free, and there's no official opening hours nonsense.
