Haye Coppice

Getting into Haye Coppice is a proper walk through dense woodland where the canopy closes in enough to make you forget you're just outside Seaton. The forest floor is thick with leaf litter and moss, which is lovely if you're after something quiet and green, but means the paths can be muddy depending on the season.

It's a small woodland rather than a vast country park, so don't expect an all-day adventure. Most people spend an hour to ninety minutes here, wandering the narrow tracks and getting a real sense of being in the woods without any fuss or facilities. There's no visitor centre, no cafe, no playground - which is exactly why some walkers prefer it. Families with young children might find it a bit limited unless they're keen explorers.

The real draw is the peace. You won't find crowds, and the dense tree cover makes it a decent option during the heat of summer. Spring is particularly nice when the woodland floor comes alive with bluebells and wild garlic. Admission is free, and you can access it easily from Seaton town centre.

If you're staying at Beer Head Holiday Park or Seadown Holiday Park, it's worth a morning wander before heading to the coast. It won't set your holiday on fire, but it's the sort of place that reminds you why you came to Devon in the first place - quiet, green, and proper relaxing.
