High Oaks Dog Field

High Oaks Dog Field sits just outside Norwich and does exactly what it says on the tin - it's a proper open space where dogs can run about without a lead. If you're staying at any of the nearby caravan parks like Deer's Mead or Deer's Glade and your dog's been cooped up in the van, this is the place to let them burn off some energy.

The field itself is straightforward: grass, open air, room for your pooch to chase a ball or dig about. There's nothing fancy here, no cafe or visitor centre, which is fine. You're not paying for bells and whistles. Depending on the time of year, it can get muddy, so waterproof trousers are a solid bet if you're planning to sit on the grass and watch.

It's aimed squarely at dog owners, obviously, so if you're the type who gets annoyed by other people's pets, give it a miss. Most days you'll find a decent crowd of dogs and their owners having a social. For families with dogs, it's a low-stress way to break up a week on the caravan site - your kids can watch the dogs play while yours gets some proper exercise.
