Hippo Viewing

You won't find many places in North Yorkshire where you can watch hippos. That's what makes this spot genuinely unusual - a proper oddity tucked into the Yorkshire landscape that catches most visitors off guard. The viewing area gives you a chance to see these enormous animals up close, which is frankly more thrilling than you'd expect on a caravan park holiday in the region.

It's worth allowing an hour or so, depending on how chatty the keepers are and whether the hippos are in the mood to perform. Fair warning: hippos spend a lot of time in water looking vaguely unimpressed, so manage your expectations if you're bringing restless kids.
