Holy Trinity Frogmore Church

The first time you spot Holy Trinity, it's the flint walls that catch you - proper medieval work, the kind that's been standing since the 12th century. It sits quietly east of St Albans, the sort of church you'd miss if you weren't paying attention, which would be a shame because there's real character here.

What you get is a working parish church with genuine history baked into its bones. The interior is modest but genuine - timber roof, a few decent monuments, and that particular smell of old stone and polish that belongs to churches where people actually worship. It's not flashy. There's no gift shop, no theatrical lighting, just a space that's been doing the same job for eight hundred years.

History types will appreciate the medieval fabric. Families with young children might find it a bit low-key unless they're genuinely into exploring old buildings - it's not a destination that'll keep them entertained for hours. Walkers, though, should absolutely include it in a loop around the area. The churchyard is peaceful, the kind of place you actually want to sit in.
