Hoselaw Chapel sits tucked away in the rolling hills just outside Coldstream, a small stone building that's been quietly holding its own since the 1600s. It's the sort of place that stops you in your tracks - grey walls, simple windows, and a real sense of being caught between centuries. The interior is sparse but genuine, with old wooden pews and that particular silence you only get in places where people have actually prayed for hundreds of years.

This is one for the history-minded rather than those after a five-star visitor experience. There's no café, no gift shop, no queues. Just architecture and atmosphere. You'll spend twenty minutes here maximum, though it's the kind of twenty minutes that stays with you. The setting itself is lovely - proper Border country landscape surrounding it.

Walkers exploring the Coldstream area will find it a worthwhile detour, particularly if you're already out on the trails between here and the English border.
