Jackson's Land Train - North End

The Land Train sits at Mablethorpe's North End - a proper seaside fixture that's been rattling holidaymakers up and down the prom for decades. It's a open-sided tourist train painted in cheerful colours, the kind of thing that feels quintessentially British in its unpretentious charm. You board near the seafront and it trundles along the coast, giving you views of the beach and town without having to walk the lot yourself. Useful when feet are tired or the kids are flagging.

It's genuinely handy if you're staying at Haven Golden Sands just round the corner, or any of the other parks dotted along this stretch - Seacroft and Seymore are both within spitting distance. The ride takes about 20 minutes return, which means it's not a massive time commitment but does give you a proper tour of the seafront without the legwork.

Families with young children will get the most from this - there's something about being on a train that makes it an event rather than just a walk. Older kids might find it a bit slow unless they're particularly interested in the views. Expect to pay a few quid per head, though opening hours and exact prices change seasonally - worth ringing ahead or checking locally when you arrive.
