Standing beside the A165 just north of Bridlington, this enormous rock formation catches your eye like nothing else on the Yorkshire coast. John Bulls World Of Rock is exactly what it says on the tin - a towering outcrop of chalk and limestone that's been carved by wind and weather into dramatic shapes over thousands of years.

The rock itself rises about 40 feet from the surrounding farmland, creating an almost lunar landscape that feels completely out of place in this gentle agricultural setting. Kids will love scrambling around the base (though watch the loose stones), while geology enthusiasts can spend ages examining the fossil-rich layers that tell the story of ancient seas.

Photographers get some cracking shots here, especially in late afternoon when the white stone glows against darker skies. It's not a formal attraction - more like nature's own sculpture park that happens to sit in a farmer's field. Allow about 30 minutes unless you're really into rocks.

From nearby holiday parks like Barmston Beach or South Cliff, it makes a decent pit stop when you're driving the coast road. The location isn't signposted brilliantly, so keep your eyes peeled between Bridlington and Skipsea. Worth the brief detour if you're passing, though I wouldn't drive hours specifically for it.
