Lady Blantyre's Rock

Scrambling up through woodland above Bingley, you'll find this rocky outcrop offers one of the best panoramic views across the Aire Valley without the crowds that plague more famous Yorkshire viewpoints. The climb takes about 20 minutes from the nearest parking spot, following a well-worn but sometimes muddy path that winds between birch and oak trees.

Once you reach the top, the vista opens up dramatically. The entire Aire Valley spreads below, with Bingley's historic Five Rise Locks visible in the distance and the Yorkshire Dales rolling away to the north. On a clear day, you can spot Ilkley Moor and even catch glimpses of Bradford's skyline.

Walkers and families with older children will get the most from this spot - the scramble up involves some proper rock hopping that might challenge little ones. Photography enthusiasts rave about the golden hour light here, particularly in autumn when the valley takes on those classic Yorkshire hues.

Being free to access and always open, it makes a brilliant addition to a holiday park stay in the area. Crook Farm Park and Upwood Holiday Park are both within easy reach, making this a perfect morning adventure before heading back for lunch. Allow an hour return trip, and bring proper walking boots - those Yorkshire rocks can be slippery when wet.
