Lanteglos Church

The church sits a few miles south of Bodmin, down lanes that get progressively narrower until you're properly in the sticks. Lanteglos is a medieval parish church, all grey stone and slightly lopsided charm, the sort of place where you half expect to bump into a Victorian ghost round the corner.

Inside, the real draw is the Norman font - ornate, carved, genuinely old. The church itself dates back centuries, with that particular smell of cold stone and time that gets under your skin. But if you're staying at Rosebud Farm Touring Park, which sits just under two miles away, and you fancy a gentle walk through the Cornish countryside with a bit of actual history at the end of it, Lanteglos makes sense as a half-hour detour.

Free to enter, as far as I can tell. No drama about opening hours - it's a church, so you work round services. The real value isn't in the building itself but in the walk to get there and the quiet it offers.
