Llanelli Library sits right in the heart of town, a proper community hub rather than some grand Victorian reading room. It's a working library - the kind where you'll find locals actually using the computers, kids at storytimes, and a decent stock of Welsh-language books alongside the usual fiction and non-fiction. Nothing fancy, but well-maintained and welcoming.

You can browse for free, borrow books, use the public computers, and it's the sort of place families appreciate on a rainy afternoon when the caravan parks dotted around the area (Gateway Resort is closest at less than three miles away, or Pembrey Country Park Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite if you're further out) need a change of scene. An hour's browse is realistic; it's not massive, so don't expect to spend all day here.

For history types, the local studies section is worth investigating - Llanelli has proper industrial heritage tied to tin-plate works, and the library holds material on that. That said, if you're after something more substantial, Swansea (only a short drive north) has grander museums and galleries.

Admission is free, which is the main draw. It's useful as a convenience stop rather than a destination in itself - check the council website for current opening hours and any special events, as those vary seasonally. Pair it with a walk along the Llanelli Beach or the Five Arches Trail if you've got time. Honest assessment: good for an hour if you're already in town, not worth a special journey.
