Llanhaylow Wood

The walk through Llanhaylow Wood starts properly, with decent woodland on both sides and a path that's manageable underfoot most of the year. Adults and older walkers will appreciate it more - the kind of quiet place you go to clear your head rather than tick off a highlight.

Pair it with exploring Presteigne town itself rather than treating it as a standalone destination. Go when it's dry if you can; woodland here gets muddy, and there's no dramatic views waiting to justify squelching through wet undergrowth.
